We don't just "get over" or "move on" from trauma. We are forced to make space for it in our brains, our nervous systems, our organs, our muscles, our dreams. We carry it inside of us. We experience it even when we are lucky enough to sleep. We experience it in nervous system dysregulation when something in our waking hours triggers us. We learn to live with it. And, sometimes, we even thrive because of it. ~ Holly Nelson Posted in What Is Trauma?Comments Off on Making Space For Our Trauma Developmental TraumaLimbic System DysfuntionNervous SystemSomatic Symptoms
